Listening to Those Who Know More

When something’s amiss with your health, you presumably go to someone who knows more than you do about the body and they give you their opinion, a diagnosis, a cure, or at least something to relieve the symptoms, maybe talk about how to avoid contracting this whatever in the future. They give you a piece of paper that lists what you need to take, what you need to do, how to go about it.  Presumably you then go back out into the world and follow those instructions. So you’ll get better. So you’ll stay better. Sometimes the suggestions don’t work. You need something stronger. So you refer back and you get the information about the stronger stuff that will work better.  And you wish that you’d just been given that from the git go cuz it would have been so much easier that way.

We’ve all been handed a big fat prescription slip in face of this virus.  It says Social Distancing. The lighter version of the prescription, where social distancing meant “yeah, go to the bar, but keep 3 ft away from everyone,” that one? Yeah, that didn’t work. So the new prescription slip says “JUST STAY HOME.” That’s the stronger stuff that we hope is going to work.

Can you swallow that pill?
